In Brazil, road transport is responsible for cargo handling, yes, the truck is the main vehicle for cargo transportation. To know how shocking this mode is, here are some interesting numbers. We have a network of 1,720,700 kilometers of national roads and highways, no less than the fourth largest in the world, where 61.1% of all cargo moved in Brazil passes. This system of highways is the main means of transportation of cargo and passengers in the country’s traffic. Contradicting countries where the movement of cargo is done by means of railways or fluvial, the concentration in Brazil in the road is quite expressive.
In a country with a road network so representative, it is no wonder that the old and popular popular saying says, without a truck, Brazil stops. Currently, Brazil is the eighth largest market in the world auto industry and about 10 thousand kilometers of its road system are composed of motorways, mainly in the state of São Paulo, here it is a reservation, it is difficult to make comparisons between roads in the state of São Paulo with the rest of our country, especially when compared with north and northeast.
Some 2017 numbers on our road system. Only 105,814 kilometers of the Brazilian road network are paved, of which about 34% are considered to be only in a regular situation and 16% in bad or bad conditions due to lack of maintenance. In addition, a significant part of the inter-urban connections in the country, even in some regions of great demand, still occur on dirt roads or with precarious state of preservation, especially in the North and Northeast regions of the country, as has already been pointed out, which results in damages for the transport of loads as well as accidents and deaths. A sad fact, only in 2017 were recorded on the Brazilian roads 89,518 accidents, leaving 84,256 injured and 6,245 dead.
Some factors impact the success of deliveries in this intense network. A lack of proper training professional drivers, conscious and able to drive trucks every day with more and greater technology. Excessive weight in equipment, unpaved roads, the ever greater requirement to meet reduced deadlines for delivery, among so many factors that compromise and make our roads and a bit risky for people’s lives.
It is up to each one of us to evaluate the best conditions to deliver our cargoes and products throughout Brazil, by controlling, charging, demanding better services from conscious and responsible companies.
