Over the course of our 28 years of experience in transport, we have seen the reports of countless companies that have reported not very good experiences about losses caused by unmade deliveries, damage to the load without reimbursement, dissatisfaction from customers when receiving the Product, we finally realized that many of these reports could have been avoided with some simple care.
As the purpose of the TRANS REID BLOG is to focus on simple solutions to complex problems we have selected a series of suggestions to be taken into account when hiring a carrier to ship your product and serve your customer, your greatest good. In this article we talk about hiring by observing the safety of the cargo.
1) Request the carrier’s insurance policy and review the validity, coverage, excluded products if your product is on this list and the company is discovered in the event of a claim, or the carrier presents a prior authorisation issued by the Insurance company, which is a simple thing to obtain, provided that it is requested before boarding;
2) Evaluate the PGR – risk management plan issued by the insurer. Here is an analysis of both the insurance contracted by the carrier and the company, and in the latter, it is called the DDR Letter – exemption from the right of return which does not replace compulsory insurance policy, the carrier’s liability;
3) Assessing the situation of the company’s fleet is essential to avoid delays and damage caused by misuse or carelessness with the vehicle. TRANS REID has the Daily checklist program and the Black Ball, a term used for the operational check list without the presence of drivers. Preventive maintenance in the fleet itself and also in the outsourced fleet minimises considerable risks during the operation;
4) fleet tracked and monitored is another very important item to analyze when hiring a carrier. The tools used need to be in constant update, because the risk of misuse and theft of cargo is very constant in our country. Have good tracking equipment, with constant maintenance and preventive testing, have a good base of monitoring, being outsourced or own;
5) and finally, analyze and request references on GRIS – risk management where the analysis of the team that is responsible for the delivery of the product is made. Most insurers require a periodic GRIS made by companies approved by the insurance company. This item is very relevant because the team responsible for the delivery has access to your company’s facilities, your product and also your client’s facilities.
