Cargo transportation is a factor that strongly impacts the industry’s bottom line. Without a functional, efficient operation that minimally meets deadlines and maintains the integrity of the cargo, the industry has its sale compromised. When we talk about quality in transportation, we think of driver efficiency, vehicle, documentation, traceability and efficient communication.
Speaking of the driver, let’s go a little further, let’s talk about the support team that advises the work of the driver, the operational team. The process, which precedes the arrival of the truck at the point of collection is as important as the shipment itself.
The simplest definition of what is expected of a quality operation is:
1 – Charge delivered on time
2 – Cargo integrity and safety
3 – Documentation that complies with the legislation
To meet these three basic requirements the carrier needs to have a well-designed, efficient flow of service in line with the profile and needs of each customer. Understanding and meeting customer demand as he or she expects it is nevertheless a minimally fulfilled prerequisite. It follows the drawing of a very basic flow of how processes can meet the needs of companies.
One of the factors of great impact in the fulfillment of the deadlines is the maintenance of the fleet. Checking daily in each vehicle, making the black ball (checking the fleet by third parties), diesel quality, arla, tire calibration and other factors that must be routinely validated prevents loss of time with vehicle breaks.
Having the customer profile, with well-defined and aligned service form allow the operation to have no interruptions due to lack of information. Communication becomes clear and fast when information is available, especially when implemented in the system. In this case, it is imperative that the commercial, when knowing the customer, transcribe, and communicate the company what was agreed, what it is up to the company to attend and how to attend. This alignment of expectations has a very positive impact on the client’s operation.
