Cargo transportation has a series of fees that can affect different stages of the logistics process.

Any logistics manager who wants to improve their processes needs to know these rates well.

With this in mind, we have separated the most common cargo transportation rates in Brazil.

If you already know, it is always good to remember their functions, as well as the format for charging these charges.

1. TOLL

This is the best known modality and, consequently, the most charged in the entire national territory. Toll fees are charged in all parts of Brazil.

A toll is a right of way paid to an autarchy or concessionaire.

The main roads in the country have collection points and the amount collected is used to build and maintain roads.

2. GRIS (RISK AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT)

Fee charged in the value of the invoice, as a percentage. This charge exists to cover any costs related to combating cargo theft, unfortunately, still very present in the logistics reality in Brazil.

Currently, it is essential to make the investment capable of generating more safety for drivers and customers.

The GRIS value considers some variables, such as the operating costs involved and the type of cargo, to cite some examples of conditions that affect the value of this rate.

3. SHIPPING WEIGHT

This is a ratio that relates the weight of the load to the distance covered. The objective is to cover transfer charges (Road operation) and Administrative and Terminal Expenses (DAT).

Its calculation considers the direct and indirect costs, truck, administrative and the Carrier's profit rate.

4. TRT (TRAFFIC RESTRICTION RATE)

Some cities in Brazil have traffic restrictions imposed, especially on cargo vehicles.

If the circulation route involves any of these cities, the shipper must pay this fee.

It exists to overcome the obstacles to be overcome by the carriers, whenever the collection and/or delivery is carried out in municipalities that have some type of restriction on the circulation of cargo vehicles and/or on the loading and unloading activity itself.

5. to value

Ad Valorem or Freight Valor is a fee charged within the freight table that represents the cost of insuring the cargo.

It is based on the value of the merchandise, and takes into account criteria such as distance traveled and transit time, for example.

This fee is mandatory. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to it. Finally, it is worth mentioning that its value covers insurance costs, when the items are under the responsibility of the carrier, or even if the shipper does not have a prior policy.
