Not Brazil, or road transport is responsible for the movement of cargo, sim, or road or main vehicle for cargo transport.
To find out how impactful this modality is, here are some very interesting numbers.
We have a network of 1,720,700 kilometers of national roads and highways, no less than the fourth largest in the world, through which 61.1% of all cargo handled in Brazilian territory pass.
This highway system is the main means of transporting cargo and passengers in the country's traffic.
Contradicting countries where cargo movement is carried out by rail or river, the concentration in Brazil on the road is quite expressive.
In a country with such a representative road network, it is no coincidence that the good old saying goes, without a truck, Brazil stops.
Currently, Brazil is the eighth largest market in the world automobile industry and approximately 10,000 kilometers of its road system are made up of highways.
Some 2017 numbers about our road system:
Only 105,814 kilometers of the Brazilian road network are paved, of which around 34% are considered to be in a regular situation and 16% in poor or terrible conditions, due to lack of maintenance.
In addition, a relevant part of the long-distance connections in the country, even in some regions of great demand, are still through unpaved roads or in a precarious state of conservation, especially in the North and Northeast regions of the country, as has already been highlighted, which results in damages for the transport of cargo as well as accidents and deaths.
A sad fact, in 2017 alone, 89 518 accidents were registered on Brazilian roads, leaving 84 256 injured and 6 245 dead
Some factors impact the success of deliveries in this very intense network.
The lack of proper training is professional drivers who are aware and able to drive trucks each day with more and more technology.
Excessive weight in equipment, roads with no road conditions, the increasing demand to meet reduced delivery deadlines, among so many factors that compromise and make our roads somewhat risky for people's lives.
It is up to each one of us to assess the best conditions to deliver our cargo and products throughout Brazil, controlling, charging, demanding better services, from conscientious and responsible companies.
