The numbers of accidents on rainy days increase drastically. Much of the accidents are caused due to the lack of knowledge of the drivers of how to drive in the rain. In addition to the increased attention due to the visibility that is compromised, the adhesion of the vehicle is also impaired and some care is essential to ensure safety. Knowing, being well informed about driving techniques safely is what lives lives.
Keep the Windshield wiper in good condition
Make the wiper exchange often, especially in times of rain showers. Rubber or silicone cleaner after being in the sun for a long time causes natural wear. According to item XIX of article 230 of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), driving “without triggering the windshield wiper under rain” is an infraction of a serious nature. Of course the use of the windshield wiper improves visibility, especially when the rains are not very strong.
Using the glass defroster
Moisture inside the vehicle causes the windows to become blurred without visibility. To dry the humidity, use the air conditioning directed to the glass or the defroster itself. Simply use hot or cold air, which by changing the temperature, removes moisture.
Keep your tires in good condition
The state of conservation of the tires of the vehicle is fundamental for its stability in the track. Through its grooves (cracks, grooves, narrow holes of the tire) the water is drained and the aquaplaning of the vehicle is avoided, which is when the tire loses its grip on the asphalt and planer under the water, causing the driver to lose the direction control. Tire without the grooves or bald tire on a wet lane runs a very large risk of slipping, especially in a corner or brake. Trafficking with the bald tire is a serious infraction, according to item XVIII of article 230 of the CTB.
With very heavy rains, stop the car When the volume of water is too high or when the visibility is too impaired, even using the glass defroster and the windshield wiper, look for a safe place away from trees, plaques or other objects that can reach you, stop the car and turn on the alert flash. This ensures your safety and that of other drivers.
Turn on the headlights According to Article 250 of the Traffic Code, failure to keep at least the position lights of the vehicle “in heavy rain, mist or fog” is at least medium. Keeping the lights on even during the day on the highways is mandatory, both by day and by night.
